SUGAR CREEK ART CENTER PRESENTS THE ARTWORK OF AUDREY ELAINE
Thorntown, IN –March 22, 2008 Don’t miss your opportunity to see the paintings landscapist and still life artist Audrey Elaine. The oil paintings of this unique artist can be seen on the second floor grand studio of Sugar Creek Art Center from Friday April 4, 2008 to Saturday, May 3, 2008.
Audrey is a Hoosier Artist. She was born and raised in Indiana She is the mother of seven children and is retired from service in the US Post Office where she worked for 23 years. Audrey paints in acrylics and watercolors, but prefers the freedom that oils offer her.
Audrey Elaine has heard a calling to do art and to paint from the age of seven. Showing the beauty that she sees surrounding her as she travels throughout the US and Europe, has been her major inspiration. Her gift of oil paints as a child caused her to begin painting and experimenting with various techniques. She tries new and different techniques all the time as she attempts to expand her expertise.
Her paintings have been purchased for private collections in Indiana, Ohio, Texas, Michigan, California, Arizona and Florida. She recently went to Europe where she was inspired by touring and experiencing firsthand, Giverny in France, Monet’s Gardens. “being where the Master stood and painted was wonderful and was a life time dream”. Audrey has received numerous awards including first place in oils summer, 2007 at Art In The Park, Griffith, Indiana.
“Culture at the Creek” Reception, held the Second Friday of each month, will celebrate the artwork of this artist on Friday, April 11, 2008 during special extended hours on Friday April 11, 6 – 9 pm. Also, come to see the wide artistic diversity of the 24 resident artists at Sugar Creek during special extended hours on Friday, March 14, 6 – 9 pm.
Studio 102, the Art Center’s gift shop, offers its visitors a tempting selection of exclusive, one-of-a-kind creations that are perfect for gift giving. A portion of the proceeds from all sales benefit the not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) Art Center.
Sugar Creek Art Center offers art classes for all ages and host’s artists’ studios. From oil to watercolor … pottery to wearable art… textiles to glass to multimedia… visitors continue to be impressed when discovering this special place – a haven for creative expression nestled in the countryside.
An easy and relaxing drive from Lafayette, Crawfordsville, or Indianapolis, the Sugar Creek Art Center is located at 127 South Pearl Street, one block south of Main Street in Thorntown.
