SCAC Welcomes Diane Gardner

March 6th - 25th, 2011
Diane Gardner
- Diane creatively expresses her love of the natural world through her photographs. Whether she is exploring the backroads of Ireland or Indiana, she uses her photographic skills and creativity to produce images that reflect her contemplative view of landscapes, animals and people. Diane has received awards and recognition for her work including the Governor’s Award at the Indiana State Fair, the juried photography exhibition at the Honeywell Center’s Clark Gallery in Wabash, Indiana, an exhibition at the Bread Basket Cafe and a Lilly Endowment Fellowship to study photography and writing in Ireland.

Diane discovered her love of photography in 1980 when she stumbled onto a black & white darkroom class as an elective while finishing her master’s degree in library and information science at Indiana University. Largely self-taught, Diane has been fortunate to have mentors along the way who have helped her shape her vision. Most recently, she mentored with award winning photographers Carsten Krieger and John Eagle in Ireland. While she appreciates the many benefits of digital photography, Diane strives to capture the image she envisions with her camera, using minimal digital editing.

Also on exhibit the Sugar Creek Art Center is proud to collaborate with the Boone County ARC Rehab Services and their ARC Artisans. Arc Artisans is an entrepreneurial program of emerging artists at Arc Rehab Services. After over a year of creating beautiful pottery, paintings, and other handcrafted artwork, they are extremely excited to show the community just how talented their group of artisans have become.

Culture at the Creek - March 11th, 6-9pm
Along with Diane's display in the Commons Area Gallery on the second floor there will be a group of Arc Artisans performing some percussion entertainment in the Event’s Room the night of March 11, 2011 at the Culture at the Creek event. Also that evening the Lebanon Arts Council will have the Running River Strings group performing for your listening pleasure.
